THE JOURNAL / VOL. 01
Notes from
the green room.
Three short essays on the aroma that inspired this brand. These are original editorial pieces about scent, not scientific or product claims.
01 / SCENT & MEMORYWhy a smell feels like a place
There is a particular kind of recognition that happens before you have found the words for it. A door opens, someone walks past, and an atmosphere arrives all at once. Cannabis has that sort of identifiable aroma for many people. We began by asking what happens when you take that recognition seriously as a design material.
The answer is not to hide the reference under a polite floral name. It is to translate the green snap, the resinous middle and the earthy afterimage into a language that belongs in the world of fragrance.
02 / AN OLFACTORY IDEAThe room without the smoke
A scent can remind you of a bonfire without lighting one. A leather accord need not be a jacket. Smoke Signal follows that same imaginative line. It is a proposal for an ambient spray whose smoky and herbal impression suggests a familiar scene without producing smoke.
The distinction matters. What a fragrance evokes and what it physically contains are separate questions. We will describe both accurately when a real formula exists.
03 / OBJECT STUDYA bottle worth keeping
We want Ganjalone to feel like an object of desire on a shelf before anyone reads a word. Dark glass, restrained typography and a flash of acid green create the tension: composed and slightly unruly at once.
The renderings on this site are visual concepts. Their purpose is to make the ambition tangible and give potential collaborators something precise to respond to.
